MAT MBA Exam - Overview

MAT Exams are conducted by AIMA - All India Management Association. AIMA undertakes a host of management related activities and initiatives such as Distance Management Education, Management Development Programmes, Special Conferences, Research & Publications, Testing Services and Competitions.

MAT is approved by Ministry of HRD, GOI as a National Entrance Test . Centre for Management Services (CMS) is the specialised division of AIMA undertaking testing and other management services. Candidate can choose any one of the two options to take the test: Paper-Based Test Or Computer Based Test. Test Date (For Paper- Based Test) is 05 September 2010 (Sunday). Test Date (Computer Based Test) is 11 September 2010 (Saturday) onwards.

Last Date for Online Registration for MAT is 12 August 2010 (Thursday) and Last Date for receipt of filled in Online Registration Form at AIMA, New Delhi 16 August 2010 (Monday).

Graduates in any discipline. Final year students of Graduate Courses can also apply

MAT Test Duration and Pattern

MAT is an objective type test designed and developed to ascertain the aptitude of the candidates to undergo Post Graduate Programme in Management. The MAT has five sections, each section having forty questions. The total 200 questions are to be attempted over 150 minutes. The test structure is -

  • Language Comprehension 40 questions in 30 minutes
  • Mathematical Skills 40 questions in 40 minutes
  • Data Analysis & Sufficiency 40 questions in 35 minutes
  • Intelligence & Critical Reasoning 40 questions in 30 minutes
  • Indian & Global Environment 40 questions in 15 minutes

MAT Exam Fees

Fee for the test is Rs 1200/-.

MAT Exam Registration Instructions

Candidate can choose any one of the following modes to apply -

  • Obtain Form with MAT Bulletin/CD against cash payment of Rs 1200/- (One thousand two hundred only) from listed branches of Bank of Baroda, listed Study Centres of AIMA OR against cash payment of Rs 1050/- (One thousand fifty only) from AIMA, New Delhi. or
  • Obtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1050/- (One thousand fifty only) in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at Delhi from any Bank. Register online at website www.aima-ind.org/matsep10 alongwith the DD details. or
  • Register online at website link www.aima-ind.org/matsep10 with Credit Card payment.
  • On receipt of duly completed MAT Registration Form and verification of payment, the MAT Bulletin in CD Format containing the profiles of participating management institutes, will be sent by AIMA to the address filled by candidate. Candidate has to identify five institutes where his / her MAT Scores are to be sent by AIMA automatically.
  • Candidate can fill the Management Institutes Codes (MI Codes) Online, of five chosen institutes where his / her Sept 2010 MAT score are to be sent.
  • Check AIMA website link: http://aima-ind.org/mat_centre.aspx seven days before the date of test for downloading Admit Card.
  • Access individual Admit Card using MAT Registration Number (Auto-generated number in case of Online Registration).
  • Take the printout of Admit Card from the above website link. Admit card will have the Roll Number and Test Centre Address. No separate Admit Card will be issued.
  • Affix on the Admit Card two similar photographs already kept in self custody. Get the Photographs on the Admit Card attested by any Gazetted Officer or Head of the Institute / College from where the candidate has graduated or is graduating.
  • Produce ‘MAT Admit Card’ duly completed at the test centre for appearing in the test. (Admit Card will be verified and signed by the Invigilator during the test. The Upper Half of the Admit Card will be collected by the Invigilator and the Lower Half will be handed over to the candidate.)

MAT Exam Testing Process

  • Candidates are to report to the allotted test centre at least 45 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the test. Neither any candidate will be admitted 15 minutes after the commencement of the test nor any extra time granted for completing the test.
  • Candidates are to be in possession of the following when reporting to the test centre: Document: Admit Card duly completed. Writing Materials: Ball Point Pen, HB Pencils, Eraser and Sharpener.
  • The test room will be opened about 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. The candidates are to be seated at the allotted place.
  • Admit Card will be verified during the test.
